Strawberry-bush.

Strawberry-bush continues my tapestry/old-botanical portrayals of Southern Illinois native plants. Euonymus americanus is in the bittersweet family, yet unlike its exotic/introduced cousin Burning Bush, it is a functional co-evolved player in our ecosystem! Our Flora of Southern Illinois class encountered the American Strawberry Bush this past Summer in the Shawnee National Forest. It's a delight to give it a storybook rendering :)
